North Herefordshire

Frost below the hills of North Herefordshire, near the medieval town of Wigmore.

Situated south-west of Ludlow, Wigmore lies in a quiet valley surrounded by the forested hills of the border between Shropshire and Herefordshire. The area contains some of the Welsh Marches' most scenic rural countryside, characterised by rolling crop fields overlooked by higher ground. Within the region, dozens of prehistoric hillforts and medieval castles describe the landscape's past importance. Some of Britain's most attractive ancient villages are found throughout Herefordshire and Shropshire, whose landscapes remain some of the country's quietest.
