Ludlow Castle, Autumn

Ludlow Castle, Shropshire, pictured during late autumn.

Founded during the 11th century and occupied for centuries, Ludlow Castle is among the most impressive ancient buildings in the British Isles. An imposing position above the River Teme offers extensive views of the Shropshire Hills, Herefordshire and the Welsh Marches. Ludlow itself is characterised by narrow medieval streets and impressive Georgian architecture, and is widely considered to be one of England's most attractive market towns. Some of Britain's finest countryside surrounds Ludlow, including the ancient woodlands of the Shropshire-Herefordshire border.
